UD Group provides price comparison and sales submission software to both energy brokers and suppliers for B2B energy sales and contracting. Over the last 12 months, UD Group has been developing a range of Insights products to aide energy suppliers in understanding trends and pricing movements.

To support our new Insights products, we are looking to introduce a new role of Energy Market Analyst. This person will hold the UD Group expert opinion on the energy market. They will produce market commentary based on the price data UD Group receives from suppliers for blogs, reports, press releases and to support the UD Insights products.

Reporting to: UD Insights Product Manager

Location: Office-based, South Manchester

Main purpose of the role:

As Energy Market Analyst you are the external voice of UD Group producing an independent view of the energy market, its trends and characteristics. You produce high quality content based on the data UD Group captures within its transactional software products, to compliment the UDI (UD Insights) products. You analyse and interpret the data in the UDI products to explain how this information can be used by UD’s customers to inform their pricing and broker strategy.


Key tasks: 

  • Production of regular blogs and reports on trends in the energy market
  • Interpretation of data in UDI products to understand and explain a supplier’s position and potential strategies
  • Analysis of market size and characteristics to enable the business to understand its market coverage in terms of data collection
  • Acting as Subject Matter Expert within the business for the product and development teams, sales and support
  • Engaging with key players in the market to understand trends and market developments

Key skills required:

  • 5 years + experience of working in the Energy industry, ideally for an Energy Supplier or large corporate broker
  • Understanding of retail and wholesale energy pricing
  • An interest in data
  • An ability to analyse and spot trends in a large dataset
  • A high level of attention to detail and accuracy with both statistics and words
  • A creative flair to innovate and produce high quality engaging content
  • A self-starter who can work with little supervision
